Travel, Activities in Woods Restricted to Prevent Wildfires
The Nova Scotia government is restricting travel and activities in the wooded areas because continued hot, dry conditions have greatly increased the risk of wildfires. These restrictions have temporarily closed the Highland Gun Club.
More details on the restrictions here: https://news.novascotia.ca/en/2025/08/05/travel-activities-woods-restricted-prevent-wildfires
Shoot organizers are working with the Department of Natural Resources to obtain an exemption and a permit to operate through the ban. As of today, August 7, shoot organizers are planning to go forward with the shoot provided the ban is lifted or we have a permit in place to operate.
We realize many shooters have made extensive travel plans to attend, and we want to give you the most notice possible. We will make an announcement on August 19th on whether the shoot can go ahead. If you need more information or an answer before that date, feel free to contact Andrea or Doug.
Stay tuned to the APTA webpage and Highland Gun Club Facebook page for updates.
Thank you for your patience as we work through this.

The Highland Gun Club will host the 2025 Atlantic Provinces Trapshooting Championship from Thursday, August 28 - Sunday, August 31.
Please note that organizers have decided to continue with the 4 day, 800 target program. There is plenty to see and do in the area and the shorter days will allow visiting shooters a little more sight seeing time and maybe even time to attend a crib tournament and fish fry at the club.
On Wednesday, August 27, the club will be open for shoot registration and The Sponsor's Challenge - an ATA BIG 50 Shoot.
The 2025 shoot program is now available!
