Trap and Field's Around the ATA article from the Atlantic Provinces ATA Delegate

Entry: May 2021

May, 2021

Hello from the Atlantic Provinces.

It’s mid-March as I’m writing this month’s article and spring is slowly arriving to parts of the Atlantic Provinces. Shooters at the Highland Gun Club took advantage of nice weather and had their first shoot of the season on Wednesday, March 17. In stark contrast, the winter weather in Newfoundland continues and our trapfields are still buried in snow. As the shooters take to the line for a round of trap in Nova Scotia, I am getting ready for an ice fishing trip.

The Petitcodiac Sportsman Club’s winter league continues through the cold New Brunswick winter. As of mid-March, Dan Boudreau leads the Singles standings by less than 1 percent over Paul Devereaux. Dan also tops the Doubles standings. Twenty-one shooters are registered for the league that runs until May 1, 2021. Good luck shooters!

Preparations continue for the 2021 Atlantic Provinces ATA Provincial Shoot. COVID-19 vaccination schedules are looking great with provincial vaccination schedules anticipating that all residents that want to be vaccinated will be by mid to late summer. If all looks well, the Highland Gun Club in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia will host this year’s Atlantic Provinces ATA Provincial Shoot September 2-5, 2021. Our contingency plan will be a satellite shoot format. A decision on our shoot format will be made June 1 so stay tuned to www.shootatlantic.com for more shoot information and a shoot program.

On the national scene, the 2021 Canadian Trapshooting Championships will be held in a satellite shoot format from June 25 to 27, 2021. COVID-19 restrictions across Canada vary and would make a one club shoot very difficult, if not impossible, to host.  Host clubs and shoot details are being finalized. Refer to www.shootcanada.ca for updated information and a shoot program.
